I used to work on map design for tf1, is it easier or harder to play with level design now? Curious about doing some classic Knightsnipe / Shortbus remakes

It's kinda similar. Just expect to design with a lot of models, instead of brushes, where detail is needed. Also, the entities are a bit different, but nothing an ol' Worldcraft mapper wouldn't be able to get the hang of. There's a lot of tuts out there too. I think tf2maps.net and their forums have a lot of useful ones to start out with.

well, let me get a few maps off the ground first... I'm going to start small.. with a classic that I used to enjoy from the old GP servers that one of the old admins there had made. Involved traincars, an electric fence and some neat twists. Suprisingly it was very easy to pick up map design again.. I recall it took quite a while to get over the curve the first time. Just need to teach myself the hotkeys and shortcuts all over again.

So to answer your question, yes, but a month from now probably.

heya Lewein, since you seem to feel like redoing a tf2 version of shortbus, you need to put Homer Simson in it riding the bus in the seat behind where the driver is.
lol

Homer eh?!

Not sure I'd want to model him, wonder if someone already did it somewhere.... anyhow that means less room for people on the bus.

I was thinking I could make it work like Gold Rush, with two busses each from a base going in a figure 8 to the other teams base.. first to get their bus there wins. Antics ensue when both busses reach the centre of course... =)

I'm gonna draw up some basic sketches and post them in a new thread, see what you guys think. Not sure if this will pan out, but its fun to think about and see.
