I have been playing around with the Crafty's House map idea again, since UT2K4 seems to be able to handle it all.
Yesterday, I spent a couple of hours working on it and found that some of my brushes(walls) were not showing up in the 3D perspective view or in the map when I played it. I spent a couple of hours last night trying to figure out what was going on. I found something in one odd post in a set of forums created for UT2K3.
This problem seems to occur when the order the brushes are drawn in changes as you add more addition or subtraction brushes. When you start making your map, base, whatever, you use the subtraction brush to subtract a room or shape out of the solid mass of the map. Then you go in and use the addition brush to add walls, ramps, whatever. You will be able to see the brushes in the 2D viewports, but they will not show up in the 3D perspective or the map when you run it.
The solution, at least the one that worked for me was the following.
1) Select the main subtraction brush (one at a time if you have more than one like I did).
2) Right-click and choose Order.
3) Click "To First".
4) Click the Rebuild Geometry button or the rebuild all button if you have lighting in place, and you "missing" brushes should show up just fine.
5) Repeat 1-4 for each set of missing brushes you may have.
Done. _________________ That is one Crafty llama...
